The Aroostook Partners in the Arts (APA) scholarship application process:
We are excited that you are interested in seeking a scholarship from us and we hope these guidelines will make it easy for you to apply!
- We definitely want you to understand that when we say “art” we are speaking about all kinds of art experiences including but not limited to fine art (painting, sculpture, photography), music, dance, performing arts, and writing!
- Scholarships are needs-based. Basically, we really want all youth in Aroostook County to have access to art experiences. If you or your family are easily able to fund this art experience for you without this scholarship, we kindly ask that you do not apply.
- Scholarship applications will be reviewed by our board monthly. We will review and vote on applications at our monthly meetings (the second Friday of each month). If we are able to award you with a scholarship, you will be notified via email after our meeting.
- In addition to yourself, the youth, filling out the application, you will also need one reference person who recognizes your artistic inclination. Examples of this reference person may be an art teacher, music teacher, guidance counselor, close relative or family friend who witnesses this artistic pull, interest, or talent you show.
- If the youth for which the scholarship is being applied is too young to complete the application, a parent, caregiver, or close adult may assist them and should indicate their help on the form.
- In most cases, scholarships will be paid directly to the art service provider/organization.
- If you do receive a scholarship, we kindly ask that you send us a brief summary of your experience following your art activity to aroostookpartnersinthearts@gmail.com. This helps us know that the scholarships we are providing are helping kids in Aroostook and also will help your chances of receiving a scholarship in the future if you apply again!
- In the unfortunate situation that you do not receive a scholarship, please do not be discouraged. We have limited funds and will not be able to grant all scholarships all of the time, due to this. Please try applying again in the future!
